Give Me More Time To Finish Reforms - Tinubu Tells Nigerians

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appealed to Nigerians to give his administration more time to complete the programmes and reforms it has embarked upon since assuming office.

The appeal was made on Friday during a special Juma'at prayer at the National Mosque, Abuja, organized as part of activities marking Nigeria's 66th Independence Anniversary celebration.

Tinubu Says His Government Is Correcting Past Mistakes

President Tinubu, who was represented at the event by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, said his administration is working to correct the cumulative mistakes and missed opportunities of previous governments.

The President noted that Nigeria's journey since independence in 1960 has been mixed, with both challenges and opportunities, but stressed that the country has now come of age at 66.

"This anniversary, the 66th, by all accounts signifies Nigeria has come of age. The person of 66 years cannot be called a child anymore. Nigeria has become mature. We should give this government more opportunity for it to come back and finish the good work."

The quote was conveyed by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas on behalf of President Tinubu at the National Mosque, where he urged citizens not to lose hope in the country's future.

Peace and Development Will Return - Tinubu Assures

President Tinubu assured Nigerians that peace and development are returning to the country and urged citizens to remain hopeful as the reforms begin to yield positive results.

He said his administration is focused on ensuring that Nigeria is placed on the right path, adding that there is light at the end of the tunnel despite the current economic challenges faced by citizens.

FG Begins Activities For 66th Independence Anniversary

The Juma'at prayer at the National Mosque is one of the major activities lined up by the Federal Government to commemorate Nigeria's 66th Independence Day on October 1st. The government is expected to hold other events including church services and national broadcasts.

President Tinubu maintained that the sacrifices being made by Nigerians today will make the country great again.

M2NICE Editorial Note: President Tinubu's reforms including fuel subsidy removal and unification of forex rates have led to high cost of living, which is why many Nigerians are asking for relief. The President's latest appeal is seen as a call for patience ahead of the 2027 general elections.
